Sam Chavers

Sam Chavers - Dockmaster
Originally from Alabama, I moved to Sarasota as a kid and have been hooked to the water ever since. Following Graduate School, a career opportunity was available at Marina Jack and the remainder is history. 8 years later I am honored to be involved in building Florida's Premier Marina, Marina Jack. The customers, staff, and marina atmosphere make each and every day enjoyable. On my days off, I'm usually found soaking in more saltwater; boating, fishing, and diving.

I was born and raised in Sarasota, but left right after my graduation from college. My family moved a lot during my working career, including lengthy stays in the Orient and Europe, but I always considered Sarasota my home. My wife and I returned in 1993 upon my retirement. Seeking some part time work, I joined the staff at Marina Jack in 1995, Being around the water, the boating and Marina lifestyle has turned out to be a dream job for this retiree.

I retired as a managing partner in the car retail business, and moved to Sarasota in 2002.I started working at Marina Jack part time in 2004 and earned my captain's license in 2007. Originally from Ohio,I retired to Florida with my wife in 2001. The  passion  I have for being outdoors and going on off shore fishing trips, led  to part time work with The Flying Fish Fleet, one of Marina Jack's charter fleet companies. While there,I became familiar with  Marina Jack (considered to be one of Florida's most prestigious marinas)  and the outstanding  personnel working at the Dockmaster's office.

I was very excited when the opportunity arose allowing me to become part of the  Marina Jack team, and hope to enjoy this job well into the future!

I was born and raised in Sarasota, and grew up on the water. Be it fishing on the bay, or riding Jet- Ski's on Lake Chatuge in North Carolina, I was on the water a lot as a child. I graduated from Sarasota Christian High School Spring of 2009. I began working part-time at Marina Jack in 2007. I always strive to better myself, my co-workers, and hope to be an inspiration to everyone. On my time off, I am usually at the Marina, playing guitar, or working on my race car.
